Temorelin is a synthetic analogue of growth hormone releasing factor (GRF). Similar to endogenous GRF, it works in vitro by binding to and activating GRF receptors. GRF is a hypothalamic regulatory polypeptide that stimulates the synthesis and release of endogenous growth hormone (GH) by growth hormone cells in the cerebral lobe. GH acts pharmacologically by interacting with specific receptors in target cells, including chondrocytes, osteoblasts, cardiomyocytes, hepatocytes, and fat cells.
