Pharmacological action

It is a short-acting sulfanilamide drug with broad-spectrum antibacterial action. Due to the competition of dihydrofolate synthetase with p-aminobenzoic acid, folate metabolism of bacteria is blocked, and purines and nucleic acids cannot be obtained, resulting in bacterial growth and reproduction is inhibited. It has inhibitory effect on most gram-positive and negative bacteria, especially sensitive to hemolytic streptococcus, diplococcus pneumoniae, dysentery bacillus, staphylococcus, meningococcus and chlamydia trachomatis.
