Storage conditions | 1. The storage tank, pipeline and related equipment of anhydrous isopropanol can be made of carbon steel, but measures to prevent water vapor should be taken. Aqueous isopropanol must be used in properly lined or stainless steel containers or equipment to prevent corrosion. Pumps handling isopropanol are preferably automatically controlled centrifugal pumps with explosion-proof motors. Car tanker, train tanker, 200l (53usgal) iron drum or smaller container can be used for transportation. The outer wall of the transport container should have a mark indicating flammable liquid. 2. Precautions for storage Store in a cool, ventilated warehouse. Keep away from fire and heat sources. Storage temperature should not exceed 37°C. Keep container tightly closed. It should be stored separately from oxidants, acids, halogens, etc., and should not be mixed. Explosion-proof lighting and ventilation facilities are adopted. Prohibit the use of mechanical equipment and tools that are prone to sparks. The storage area should be equipped with leakage emergency treatment equipment and suitable containment materials. |
stability | 1. Odor similar to ethanol. Miscible with water, ethanol, ether, chloroform. It can melt a variety of organic substances and some inorganic substances such as alkaloids and rubber. It can be ignited and combustible at room temperature, and its steam can easily form an explosive mixture when mixed with air. 2. This product has low toxicity, and the operator should wear protective equipment. Isopropanol is prone to produce peroxides and sometimes needs to be identified before use. The method is: take 0.5mL isopropanol, add 1mL10% potassium iodide solution, 0.5mL 1:5 dilute hydrochloric acid and a few drops of starch solution, shake for 1 minute, if it turns blue or blue-black, it proves that there is peroxide. 3. Flammable and low-toxic substances. The toxicity of vapor is twice that of ethanol, and the toxicity when taken internally is the opposite. High-concentration steam has obvious anesthetic effect, can stimulate the mucous membrane of the eyes and respiratory tract, and can damage the retina and optic nerve. Rat oral LD505.47g/kg. The maximum allowable concentration in the air is 980mg/m3. Operators should wear gas masks. When the concentration is high, air-tight protective glasses should be worn. Airtight equipment and pipelines; implement partial or comprehensive ventilation. 4. It is slightly toxic. The physiological effect is similar to that of ethanol, and its toxicity, anesthesia, and irritation to the upper respiratory tract mucosa are stronger than ethanol, but less than propanol. There is almost no accumulation in the body, and the bactericidal ability is 2 times stronger than ethanol. The olfactory threshold concentration is 1.1mg/m3. The maximum allowable concentration in the workplace is 1020mg/m3. 5. Stable and stable 6. Incompatible substances Strong oxidizing agents, acids, anhydrides, halogens 7. Polymerization Hazard Non-polymerization |
