Chemical Descripion: Calcium Chloride
Molecular Formula: CaCl2
Property:Odorless and slight bitter taste. Relative density:2.15(25oC).Melting point:782oC. Boiling point:over 1600oC. 
Good moisture absorption ability and easily deliquescent when exposed to air. Easily dissolvable in water with large quantity of heat released, which aqueous solution is slight acid. Dissolvable in alcohol,acetic acid. Reacting with ethanol will respectively generate complexes of CaCl2·8NH3 and CaCl2·4C2H5OH. 
After crystallization its aqueous solution will ordinarily separate out hexahydrate at room temperature, dissolved in the crystal water of itself when gradually heating to 30oC, gradually loses water if continue heating, turns dihydrate to 200oC and turns white porous texture of anhydrous calcium chloride when gradually heating to 260oC.

It is used for melting snow and deicing on roads, highways, parking lots and docks, as the multipurpose desiccant, such as used for drying the gases of nitrogen, oxygen, hydrogen, hydrochloride and SO2, etc and as the dehydrating agent for producing alcohol, ester, aether resin.CaCl2 aqueous solution is the important cryogen for refrigeration machine and ice -making and also the good architecture antifreeze, which can speed up concrete solidification and increase ability to withstand cold of construction mortar. Beside, it can be used as the fog dispersal agent for harbors, the dust collection agent for the road surface and the fireproofing agent for the fabric. Moreover it is the protection agent and refining agent for aluminum and magnesium metallurgy, the precipitator for lake dyestuff production and for deinking in waste paper processing. It is also the raw material for producing calcium salts. Calcium chloride solution is the flocculation agent in the field of seaweed sodium and soybean products.
