Chemical properties: White crystalline powder. Melting point 57-59 ℃, boiling point 174 ℃ (1.06 kPa), soluble in dilute acids, alcohols, chloroform, ethers, and fatty oils, almost insoluble in water. Boiling with water can slowly decompose.

Application: Intermediate in organic synthesis. Mainly used for UV absorption in cosmetics
