Mechanism of action: like most other approved antipsychotic, amisulpride is thought to work by reducing dopamine D2 receptor signaling. For amisulpride, this is done by blocking or antagonizing the receptor. The efficacy of sulfamethoxil in the treatment of negative symptoms of dysthymia and schizophrenia is believed to be due to its blockade of the presynaptic D2 receptor, which deinhibits the release of dopamine, and increases the concentration of dopamine acting on the D1 receptor, to alleviate the negative symptoms of dysthymia and schizophrenia.
