Purpose

O-chlorobenzoyl chloride is an intermediate of the benzoyl urea insecticides triflumuron and diflubenzuron, as well as an intermediate of the acaricide tetramazine and the fungicide flufenidol.

It is mainly used for the preparation of clotrimazole and other intermediates and the preparation of o-chlorobenzoic acid and the production of trichloro acaricides.
