Hazard Information | Back Directory | [Description]
SP 420 is an iron chelator and a derivative of desferrothiocin. It induces iron excretion in rat bile and urine with an iron-clearing efficiency (ICE) value of 26.7% when administered at a dose of 300 μmol/kg and decreases iron levels in rat liver and heart at 384 μmol/kg per day. SP 420 (75 μmol/kg) also induces iron excretion in iron-overloaded C. apella monkeys (ICE = 26.3%). |
