Hazard Information | Back Directory | [Uses]
Bithionol sulfoxide is an anti-infection agent for parasites. Bithionol sulfoxide has mutagenic activity. Bithionol sulfoxide can be used in the research of parasite infection, such as paragonimiasis, flukes andcestodes infection[1][2][5]. | [in vivo]
Bithionol sulfoxide (oral administration) shows LD50 values of 1000-5000 mg/kg (mice) and about 5000 mg/kg (rats), and increased serum AST at high doses (5000-100 mg/kg)[3].
Bithionol sulfoxide (80 and 90 mg/kg, oral administration) is effective against natural rumen fluke infections in dairy cattle[4].
Animal Model: | Dairy cattle[4] | Dosage: | 60, 80 90 mg/kg | Administration: | Oral administration | Result: | Showed approximately 70% effective against rumen flukes infection at dosages of 80 and 90 mg/kg after one week post treatment. |
