Demethyleneberberine, a berberine metabolite, is a mitochondria-targeted antioxidant isolated from Cortex Phellodendri chinensis th at exhibits multiple pharmacological activities including anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory, anti-diarrhea and anti-cancer.
