Ranirest at (AS-3201) is an aldose reductase (AR) inhibitor. Aldose reductase is a rate-limiting enzyme in the conversion of D-glucose to fructose via D-sorbitol. Ranirest at has been implicated in diabetic complications (cataract formationretinopathyneuropathynephropathy). Ranirest at prevents sorbitol accumulation and is thus hoped to be effective in the remedy of diabetic neuropathy. |
