Bongkrekic acid is an inhibitory ligand of the mitochondrial adenine nucleotide translocase. It inhibits mitochondrial permeability transition pore opening. At 50 μM it inhibits dexamethasone- apoptosis in thymocytes, preventing the PARP cleavage and DEVDase (caspase-3 like) activity normally produced by these treatments. | [Biological Activity]
